Amethyst is a lilac to purple variety of the mineral Quartz.

It forms beautiful crystals inside volcanic lava bubbles known as geodes. Due to its beautiful colour, Amethyst is one of the most popular gemstones in the world.

The name amethyst is Greek and means ‘intoxicated’ because the ancient Greeks believed the crystals protected against drunkenness!

Tumblestones are created by tumbling and polishing rough crystal pebbles to reveal their natural colour and beauty. This finish gives the stones a lovely soft feel which makes them perfect for meditation, display or simply is a nice object to hold in the hand.

Curious Minds Did You Know? Scientists can make synthetic amethyst in a process called “hydrothermal growth”.
